LOXEAL 83-21 is a one-component, oxygen-free agent with high strength and a very short polymerization time for fastening metal elements in cylindrical "shaft-hub" connections, protecting against leaks and corrosion. The product hardens after cutting off the flow of air (oxygen) into the gap between two metal surfaces. It is particularly useful for assembling bearings, drive wheels, bushings, keyways, etc. The product can be used in systems operating at elevated temperatures.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
The adhesive creates a flexible connection that sufficiently protects the "shaft-hub" connection against spontaneous loosening and rotation or shifting of parts, and replaces the thermal and press-fit methods when assembling elements. The product is resistant to gas, air, water, oils, alkalis and many other chemicals, as well as to shocks and vibrations. It retains its properties in a wide range of operating temperatures. It is used especially where the transfer of large loads and axial moments is required and the disassembly of the connection is difficult. The glue also guarantees 100% protection against corrosion and tightness. The addition of a fluorescent substance makes it possible to detect the presence of glue in the joint using a UV lamp
TYPICAL CURING PROCESS
The anaerobic adhesive begins to polymerize (harden) after cutting off the supply of oxygen from its surface in the presence of a catalyst in the form of contact with a metal surface. The polymerization rate depends on external factors and the properties of the adhesive itself. The parameters affecting the polymerization rate are: the type of material from which the joint elements are made, the size of the joint gap, the ambient temperature, and the use of a chemical activator.
