Quenching oils are special oils used in the metallurgical and machine industries for heat treatment of metals. Hardening consists in heating the material to the appropriate temperature and then cooling it in a controlled oil environment, which leads to an increase in the hardness and strength of the material.
Properties of quenching oils:
- Quick and controlled material cooling
- High thermal stability
- Good heat dissipation
- Anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties
- Low viscosity for good surface adhesion
- Oxidation resistance for extended oil life
Applications of quenching oils:
- Hardening of tool, high-speed and structural steel
- Heat treatment of machine and device elements, such as shafts, gears, bearing shells
- Hardening of cutting details, such as knives, cutters, drills or taps
- Automotive industry, in the production of car parts, such as cylinder liners, suspension springs or brake system components
- Aerospace industry, where components subject to high loads and requiring high strength are hardened
Quenching oils play a key role in the heat treatment of metals, providing increased hardness and strength, as well as extending component life. Thanks to their properties, they are widely used in various industries, such as automotive, aviation, machinery and tools.
