Elastic bonding products are included in this category. They make it possible to obtain a flexible joint, which also seals the place of application.
Which elastic glue to choose? Types
Our offer includes two types of products:
- silicones and
- MS polymers, i.e. silane-modified polymers.
As a rule, MS polymers make it possible to obtain stronger connections, they can also be varnished. Some silicones, on the other hand, have higher temperature resistance and better chemical resistance.
Types of silicones
We divide silicones into:
- acetate (acidic) - acidic, releasing acetic acid during hardening, and they bind less with plastics, plasters and concrete. They cure quickly
- neutral (oxime or alkoxy) - have a neutral reaction. They do not corrode metals. They are characterized by good adhesion to plastics. They cure slower than acetate silicones.
One-component or two-component product?
Loctite single-component MS polymers and silicones cure under the influence of moisture in the air. This is generally slower (typically around 24 hours) than for two-component products which cure when the activator is mixed with the adhesive / sealant. In this case, we are able to directly influence the hardening time and adjust it to our needs, e.g. production rate. Two-component products are more expensive, but save a lot of time on curing.
