Light curing adhesives

The group of products we sell - light-curing adhesives - are preparations used to join many materials. These types of adhesives cure under the influence of ultraviolet light and strongly bond materials such as glass, metal and synthetic materials (e.g. plastic). How do adhesives cure?

The principle of operation of preparations, which are adhesives cured by UV light, is as follows: the preparation contains so-called photo-initiators. They disintegrate under the influence of light waves of a certain frequency (ultraviolet rays) and release the so-called activator, i.e. another ingredient of the preparation. Once the chemical reaction is complete, the adhesive is cured, bonding glass to metal, glass to glass (UV light curing glass adhesives), plastic to glass, or metal and other metal or plastic.

To cure the adhesives from our offer, you will of course need a suitable device that generates ultraviolet light with an optimal range for a given adhesive. It is assumed that this range should cover from 320 to 410 nm. We advise you to use a slightly different range from 350 nm or 360 nm upwards. It is also worth noting that excessive exposure of the adhesive to ultraviolet light is difficult to achieve. This means that even if the glue sets in ten seconds and the exposure to UV light takes thirty seconds, the glue should not lose its properties.

What materials, apart from the ones mentioned above, can be glued with preparations from our offer? Not only glass with glass or other transparent materials, but also with:

  • wood;
  • ceramic;
  • stone;
  • other materials and metals.

We offer both light-curing silicones and UV-curing acrylic adhesives. Their most important features, which distinguish this type of adhesives from other preparations, include:

  • high transparency (almost glass);
  • extremely strong bonding force;
  • no negative impact on the aesthetics of the joined elements;
  • adhesive setting speed (on average several seconds);
  • glue resistance to external factors (time, loads);
  • chemical resistance of the connection;
  • water resistance.

Light-cured adhesives are very effective, resistant, quick-setting and you don't need to use extremely expensive lamps to cure them. The times of incandescent devices with a limited lifespan are over, because the glue of this type will be cured by the LED lamp. It does not cost much, and the curing speed still oscillates within a dozen or so seconds.

We remind you about the need to use protective equipment when curing with UV light. Eye health should be protected even when the glue curing process takes only a few seconds! This is not a long time, but an activity repeated several dozen times a day can be a factor threatening the eyes.

We believe that UV light-curing adhesives from our offer will prove useful in many applications! We encourage you to browse the offer, and also invite you to other departments of our store. Happy shopping!
