Molybdenum grease is a specialized lubricant with microscopic molybdenum particles (MoS₂), creating an extremely durable film with excellent anti-wear properties. Thanks to its structure, molybdenum grease works where standard oils fail – stopping friction in extreme conditions and protecting elements against seizing.
What is molybdenum grease and how does it work?
- Molybdenum grease is a mixture of carrier (synthetic or mineral oil) with molybdenum disulfide particles.
- MoS₂ particles penetrate micro-gaps, creating a dry, graphite-like coating with a low friction coefficient.
- The molybdenum film retains its properties in temperatures from –30 °C to +400 °C.
- Anti-corrosion and anti-wear additives strengthen protection against rust and wear.
Key Properties
- Extreme Load Capacity: reduces friction even at boundary loads
- Temperature resistance: effective up to +400 °C
- Dry coating: no leaks and minimal contaminant attraction
- Corrosion protection: inhibitors protect metal against oxidation
