INSTRUCTIONS
A few drops per contact pair are usually sufficient. If switch or connector contacts are readily accessible, cleaning and oxide removal can be assisted by carefully wiping them with, for example, cellulose, leather or cotton swabs.
If mechanical cleaning is not possible, allow the product to penetrate for approximately 10–15 minutes. Then rinse off the dissolved contamination and corrosion products with KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontakt WL. Finally, apply KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontakt 61 as a protective coating.
KONTAKT 60 is effective in many cases without further treatment, but this increases the risk of corrosion recurring after a short time. Contacts in large plug connectors and heavy-duty relays can be protected against corrosion with KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontakt 40. If you are certain that a contact is malfunctioning only because of contamination, resinification or similar deposits, and not corrosion, KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontakt 61 can be used directly without further pretreatment.
LIMITATIONS AND SAFETY
- For series production, check the product’s compatibility with plastics. Pay particular attention to stress-cracking-sensitive plastics such as polycarbonate and polystyrene, and to components subject to high mechanical loads.
- The aerosol contains flammable solvents. Do not spray the liquid onto electrical equipment that is energised.
- The solvent must evaporate completely before the equipment is switched on again. Wait at least 15 minutes. Local conditions may require a longer drying time, particularly where the application area has insufficient fresh-air circulation.
- Refer to the safety data sheet for further safety information.
