KONTAKT CHEMIE KONTAKT WL 400 ml – cleaner and degreaser for electrical contacts and electronic components
KONTAKT CHEMIE KONTAKT WL 400 ml is a specialist aerosol cleaner designed for electrical contacts, printed circuit boards (PCBs), electronic components and precision mechanical assemblies. Its mixture of five active solvent components helps remove grease, oil, operating contaminants and selected deposits that accumulate during equipment use.
The cleaner evaporates quickly without leaving residues, making it suitable for applications requiring thorough removal of contaminants. The 400 ml aerosol is a practical option for regular maintenance, electrical equipment servicing and cleaning multiple components.
KONTAKT WL is also an essential part of CRC's three-step electrical contact maintenance process: KONTAKT 60 → KONTAKT WL → KONTAKT 61. After KONTAKT 60 has dissolved corrosion products, KONTAKT WL flushes away the loosened contamination. KONTAKT 61 can then be used to protect the cleaned contacts.
Important information before use
KONTAKT WL is an extremely flammable aerosol. Do not spray on energised equipment or near ignition sources. Test compatibility before cleaning polystyrene, polycarbonate, rubber and other solvent-sensitive materials. Do not reconnect the equipment to the power supply until the cleaner has completely evaporated.
Applications of KONTAKT WL 400 ml
Cleaning electrical contacts and connectors
KONTAKT WL helps remove greasy contamination from the contact surfaces of plugs, sockets, potentiometers, relays and switches. It is intended for cleaning suitable electrical components after the power supply has been disconnected.
Cleaning printed circuit boards
The cleaner can be used during the maintenance of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies. It helps remove oily and greasy contamination as well as selected water-soluble residues. Before application, verify the resistance of components and protective coatings to the solvent mixture.
Degreasing precision mechanical assemblies
The product is suitable for cleaning small gears, mechanisms, motor parts and compatible precision components. It removes oil films and deposits that develop during normal equipment operation.
Cleaning electrical equipment
KONTAKT WL can be used on compatible housings, switch boxes, tools and electrical fittings. The manufacturer also identifies ballpoint pen marks, marker traces and certain resinified residues among the contaminants the product can remove.
Flushing residues after KONTAKT 60
After KONTAKT 60 has been applied to dissolve corrosion products, KONTAKT WL flushes away loosened dirt and remaining cleaning agents. This prepares the contact surfaces for subsequent protection and maintenance.
Key properties of KONTAKT WL
Fast evaporation without residues
The solvent mixture evaporates within minutes under suitable conditions. The cleaner does not leave a protective or lubricating coating. Before restoring power, ensure that all liquid and vapours have completely dissipated.
Effective removal of oils and grease
The mixture of five active solvent components dissolves various contaminants, including oil, grease and selected resinified deposits.
Compatibility with common electronic materials
The manufacturer reports good compatibility with many materials used in electronic equipment. However, compatibility is not universal. Polystyrene, polycarbonate and rubber must be tested before application.
Precision application in hard-to-reach areas
The aerosol features a valve that allows spraying even when the can is inverted. An extension tube facilitates targeted application to suitable components inside equipment.
High proportion of active cleaner
Carbon dioxide is used as the propellant. According to the manufacturer's technical data, this allows an active product content of approximately 97% in the aerosol.
How to use KONTAKT WL in electrical contact maintenance
Step 1 – KONTAKT 60
KONTAKT 60 helps dissolve corrosion products on metal contact surfaces.
Step 2 – KONTAKT WL
KONTAKT WL flushes away dissolved contamination and removes oily residues. This is the cleaning and degreasing stage of the process.
Step 3 – KONTAKT 61
Once the cleaned contacts are dry, KONTAKT 61 can be applied to provide an anti-corrosion protective and lubricating film.
KONTAKT WL is not a substitute for KONTAKT 61. Its purpose is to remove contamination rather than provide long-term contact protection.
Instructions for using KONTAKT WL 400 ml
1. Prepare the work area: disconnect the equipment from the power supply, ensure adequate ventilation and remove ignition sources.
2. Check material compatibility: perform a compatibility test before applying the cleaner to sensitive plastics, rubber or surface coatings.
3. Apply the cleaner: spray onto the contaminated surfaces. Use the extension tube for hard-to-reach areas. The 360° valve allows spraying with the aerosol inverted.
4. Remove contamination: allow the cleaner to wash away dissolved deposits. Where possible, collect runoff with a suitable cloth to prevent contaminants from entering other parts of the equipment.
5. Wipe accessible surfaces: suitable components may be additionally cleaned with a clean, lint-free cloth resistant to the solvent mixture.
6. Allow complete evaporation: leave the components until fully dry. Ensure that no liquid cleaner or vapours remain before reconnecting the equipment to the power supply.
7. Protect the contacts: where corrosion protection is required, apply a suitable contact protection product according to its instructions.
