Description

Properties

LOCTITE® UK 8303 B60 is a two-component, solvent-free, paste-like polyurethane adhesive. The adhesive is resistant to settling and shows no measurable change in volume after hardening. It is characterized by high viscosity. It is approved for use in the shipbuilding industry - it has a low fire spread, has a wheelmark mark. After mixing the two components, component A based on resin and component B based on isocyanates, we obtain a hard-elastic adhesive. The mixing ratio by weight is 6: 1.

Benefits of using

  • multi-purpose with universal use - for pre-prepared metals, wood, plastics, hard foams
  • safe for use in shipbuilding - low fire spread
  • high viscosity, pasty, sag-resistant
  • shows no measurable change in volume when fully cured
  • is solvent free

Usage

LOCTITE® UK 8303 B60 is used in the production of sandwich constructions, e.g. for vehicles, containers and for the construction and shipbuilding industries, as well as for component assembly. It is multi-purpose, it will work well when joining pre-prepared metals, wood, plastics, and hard foams.

Instructions for use

  1. In order to achieve the best results, clean and degrease all surfaces with a cleaner. Thorough degreasing is crucial for the proper gluing of the elements.
  2. Metal surfaces must be primed beforehand, especially in the event of later exposure of the glued surface to moisture.
  3. Plastics should be cleaned from release agents.
  4. Roughening, priming or washing with a solvent (isopropanol, ethanol, acetate) will improve adhesion.
  5. In the absence of proper preparation of polisterine elements for gluing  LOCTITE UK 8303 B60 will not work.
  6. Component A (resin) and component B (hardener) should be mixed in the proportions 6: 1 by weight, mix until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
  7. The adhesive can be used for a limited time (60-75 minutes at a temperature of 20 degrees), then it gels and cannot be applied. Only mix as much glue as needed. & Nbsp;
  8. The lifetime of the adhesive depends on the mass and temperature of the mixture. With larger quantities and higher temperatures the pot life will be shorter, while low temperatures will extend the hardening process,
  9. Using too much hardener increases the brittleness of the adhesive layer and reduces its viscosity.
  10. Apply the adhesive on one side by hand (with a spatula) or by machine (with a device for applying two-component glue).
  11. Avoid contact of the adhesive components with moisture during application and before - during curing, isocyanate reacts with the moisture, leading to the formation of air bubbles and even foaming.
  12. Can be cured both at room temperature above 15 °C and at elevated temperature. The curing time can be accelerated by increasing the temperature or adding an accelerator.
  13. The joint achieves its final strength after a few hours.
  14. For full-surface contact of the adhesive with the surfaces to be joined, adequate contact pressure must be ensured by using weights, press, clamps.

Storage

Store in dry and cool rooms in tightly closed containers. Protect against contact with moisture. Recommended temperature range is from + 15 ° C to + 25 ° C. Storage outside the recommended temperature range may irreversibly change the properties of the product. Protect against freezing. The storage time in the original packaging is 12 months.
