TESA 4591 cross filament tape 50 mm x 50 m, glass-fibre reinforced for bundling and palletising loads
Description
TESA 4591 CROSS FILAMENT TAPE 50 m x 50 mm is a strong self-adhesive tape reinforced with glass filaments in both longitudinal and transverse directions. The cross filament construction and polyester film backing provide high tensile strength in both directions and very low elongation, ensuring reliable stabilisation and securing of loads.
The synthetic rubber adhesive delivers very good adhesion to many substrates – including PE and PP – while the transparent backing allows for neat and unobtrusive applications. TESA 4591 is a versatile solution for bundling, palletising, repairs and securing coil ends in logistics and production.
Advantages and unique features
- Glass-fibre reinforcement in both directions for high tensile strength longitudinally and crosswise.
- Very low elongation, minimising tape movement under load.
- Strong synthetic rubber adhesive with excellent tack, even on PE and PP surfaces.
- Excellent adhesion to solid and corrugated board and other sheet materials.
- High tear resistance – the tape does not break even under high tension.
- Transparent backing for clean, visually unobtrusive applications.
- Universal use for bundling, palletising, coil end tabbing and general repairs.
Properties and applications
- Bundling and palletising: strapping cartons, profiles, pipes and other items on pallets and preventing load shifting.
- Carton sealing: reinforcing box flaps and closing heavy or high-value shipments.
- Load securing in transport: additional reinforcing straps on cartons, crates and long or bulky components.
- Maintenance and repair: quick reinforcement of edges, damaged packaging and structural parts.
- Coil end tabbing: secure fastening of coil ends of film, paper or profiles for storage and transport.

Storage recommendations
Store TESA 4591 in its original packaging in a cool, dry place away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Room-temperature storage with limited temperature fluctuations is recommended. Before application, make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from grease to achieve maximum adhesion and long-term performance of the bond.
FAQ
1) What is the best use for TESA 4591 tape in 50 mm width?
It is most commonly used for bundling and palletising loads, securing cartons and stabilising coils of material in storage and transport.
2) How does a cross filament tape differ from standard packing tapes?
TESA 4591 is reinforced with glass filaments in two directions, giving it much higher tensile strength and lower elongation than conventional PP or PVC packing tapes.
3) Does the tape adhere well to PE and PP surfaces?
Yes, the synthetic rubber adhesive is formulated to provide strong adhesion even on difficult substrates such as PE and PP.
4) Can the tape be torn by hand?
Because of the glass-fibre reinforcement the tape is highly tear-resistant, so a knife or scissors should be used to cut it to length.
5) Is TESA 4591 suitable for long-term load securing?
Yes, when surfaces are properly prepared and an adequate number of wraps is applied, the tape provides stable bundling and reinforcement of loads during storage and transport.
