Product description
Fischer TherMax 16/170 M12 – fixing through ETICS insulation
Fischer TherMax 16/170 M12 is a stand-off fixing system designed for secure installation of heavy components through ETICS insulation and other non-load-bearing layers. The fixing transfers loads directly to the load-bearing substrate behind the insulation, while the special plastic cone helps reduce thermal bridging.
The self-cutting cone made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic passes through the render and penetrates the insulation layer. The plastic component provides thermal separation between the attached element and the part anchored in the wall, helping to reduce heat loss. The system also allows precise adjustment of the attached component where the substrate is uneven.
What does the Fischer TherMax 16/170 M12 factory set contain?
This offer applies to the complete Fischer factory pack with manufacturer article number 51293.
The set contains:
- 20 × Fischer TherMax M16 fixing – each with an insulating cone, M12 connection thread, washer and nut,
- 20 × 20 × 200 mm mesh sleeve,
- 5 × installation bit,
- 5 × TherMax cutting blade,
- 5 × extension tube for the injection mortar nozzle,
- 5 × installation instructions.
Important: installation accessories such as bits, cutting blades and extension tubes are supplied in quantities of 5 pieces per factory pack, not one for each of the 20 fixings.
Do you need only 1 fixing?
If you do not need the full pack of 20 pieces, Melkib also offers a single-unit version under SKU 00051293SZT.
Product 00051293SZT contains 1 complete fixing set: 1 × Fischer TherMax 16/170 M12, 1 × 20 × 200 mm mesh sleeve, 1 × washer and 1 × nut.
The single-unit version does not include the installation bit, cutting blade, extension tube or installation instructions supplied with the full factory pack.
Key benefits of Fischer TherMax 16/170 M12
- secure installation of heavy components through ETICS insulation,
- helps reduce thermal bridging thanks to the insulating cone,
- transfers high loads to the load-bearing substrate,
- self-cutting cone made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic,
- no special setting tool required for the cone,
- allows precise adjustment of the attached component,
- suitable for concrete, aerated concrete and various masonry materials,
- M12 connection thread suitable for many types of external attachments.
Applications of Fischer TherMax 16
The system is designed for fixing components through external thermal insulation systems. It is particularly suitable where the attached element must carry higher loads and be anchored directly in the structural substrate of the wall.
Typical applications include:
- awnings,
- canopies,
- French balcony railings,
- outdoor air-conditioning units,
- satellite antennas.
Suitable base materials
According to Fischer documentation, the TherMax 16 system can be used – with the appropriate injection mortar and installation method – in:
- cracked and non-cracked concrete,
- solid brick,
- vertically perforated brick,
- lightweight concrete hollow blocks,
- solid and perforated sand-lime brick,
- aerated concrete.

How does Fischer TherMax 16 work?
During installation, the M16 anchor rod is fixed in the load-bearing substrate using an appropriately selected Fischer injection mortar. The glass-fibre-reinforced cone passes through the render and penetrates the insulation layer. The cone forms a thermal barrier between the part anchored in the wall and the component attached to the façade.
For hard or difficult-to-cut render, Fischer provides the TherMax cutting blade included in the factory set. The injection mortar must be selected according to the specific base material and required load capacity.
