Product description
WEICON RK-1300 KIT 60 g – structural acrylic No-Mix adhesive
WEICON RK-1300 is a high-strength two-component structural adhesive based on methyl methacrylate. The system consists of an adhesive and an activator which are applied using the No-Mix process, eliminating the need to premix both components. This makes the product suitable for fast and repeatable assembly, maintenance and production work.
Applications of WEICON RK-1300
The adhesive is designed for strong structural bonding of metals, stainless steel, aluminium, ferrites and many rigid plastics. WEICON recommends it for applications including mechanical and apparatus engineering, metal construction, vehicle construction, tool and mould making, the building industry and furniture production.
No-Mix system – no premixing required
The activator is applied to one bonding surface and RK-1300 adhesive to the other. For bond gaps up to 0.4 mm, applying the activator to one surface is sufficient. For larger gaps up to 0.8 mm and for porous, rough or passive surfaces, the activator should be applied to both bonding surfaces.
After applying the activator, allow it to evaporate for at least 5 minutes at approximately +20°C. The adhesive is then applied to one surface. According to the manufacturer, the highest shear-strength values are generally achieved with a bond-line thickness of approximately 0.15–0.25 mm.
Properties and benefits
RK-1300 has a pasty consistency and provides high impact, peel and shear strength. Handling strength is reached after approximately 6 minutes, functional strength after approximately 9 minutes and final strength after 24 hours.
The cured adhesive joint can operate from -50°C to +130°C and can withstand temperatures up to +180°C for short periods.

Storage
Store the RK adhesive and activator in a dry place at a constant room temperature. Unopened containers should be stored at +18°C to +25°C and protected from direct sunlight. The minimum shelf life of the adhesive at room temperature is 12 months; when stored at +2°C to +7°C it is 24 months.
Safety
The kit contains flammable and hazardous components. The adhesive may cause severe skin burns and eye damage and may cause an allergic skin reaction. The activator is a flammable liquid, may irritate eyes and skin and is hazardous to the aquatic environment. Follow the current safety data sheets for both components during use.
FAQ
Do RK-1300 adhesive and activator need to be mixed?
No. RK-1300 uses the No-Mix process. The activator and adhesive are applied separately to the prepared surfaces.
Which materials can be bonded with RK-1300?
WEICON specifies metals, stainless steel, aluminium, ferrites and many rigid plastics. Difficult-to-bond plastics may require special surface pretreatment.
How should surfaces be prepared?
The bonding surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease. Additional roughening or sandblasting may increase bond strength.
How quickly does RK-1300 develop strength?
Handling strength is reached after approximately 6 minutes, functional strength after approximately 9 minutes and final strength after 24 hours.
What temperature can the cured joint withstand?
The standard temperature range is -50°C to +130°C. For short periods, the cured joint can withstand temperatures up to +180°C.
Is RK-1300 suitable for large bonding areas?
Yes. WEICON specifically describes RK-1300 as suitable for bonding large surfaces and for series production.
