Description

DOLPHON CY-1114-A 25 kg is component A (resin) of a two-part, filled epoxy resin system for potting and impregnating electrical components. The system is halogen-free, self-extinguishing and designed for demanding thermal conditions, providing excellent resistance to thermal cycles and good water resistance. DOLPHON CY-1114-A is intended to be used only after mixing with a compatible hardener (component B) in the recommended ratio.

Advantages and unique features

  • Component A of a 2-part potting/impregnation system: filled epoxy resin, halogen-free
  • Excellent resistance to thermal cycles and good water resistance
  • Good electrical properties of the cured system
  • Low shrinkage during curing (0.3%)
  • Self-extinguishing: UL94 V-0 at 4 mm (file E317428)
  • Suitable for application up to class H; thermal class (20,000 h): 180°C
  • Good heat dissipation (thermal conductivity after curing: 0.8 W/m·K)
  • EN 45545-2 certified (HL levels depending on R22/R23 requirements)
  • Included in UL insulating system 155°C: E317429 (DV-155, table IX)

Properties and applications

  • Potting and casting: for stators, electrical magnets, transformers, electrical brakes, coils and capacitors
  • Impregnation: for windings and electrical components where good penetrating behavior is required
  • Unit preparation: recommended pre-heat at 110–120°C for 3 h (moisture removal), then cool to 40–50°C
  • Application tip: pour slowly into a corner of the mold so the resin rises gradually from bottom to top to help avoid trapped air
  • Mixing: if slight sedimentation occurs, stir the resin to homogenize; mix with hardener slowly without air entrapment (scrape vessel walls and bottom)
  • Mix ratio resin/hardener: 100 : 13 by weight and 100 : 22 by volume
  • Pot life at 25°C (100 g): depends on the hardener, e.g., 80–110 min with C(A)-1114-B
  • Curing: cures at room temperature; final properties can be reached faster by gelling at room temperature and then curing at 70°C for 3 h

Storage recommendations

Store the resin (component A) for up to 12 months in original sealed packaging, at a maximum of 30°C, protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. Component A may show crystallization; if so, gently warm the product to about 40°C and homogenize it thoroughly.

FAQ

1) Is DOLPHON CY-1114-A a ready-to-use potting compound?
No. It is component A of a 2-part system and must be mixed with a compatible hardener (component B).

2) What mixing ratio is recommended?
100 : 13 by weight and 100 : 22 by volume (resin : hardener).

3) What is the system used for?
For potting and impregnating windings, transformers, coils, capacitors, electrical magnets and stators.

4) How can I reduce air bubbles in the casting?
Pre-heat the unit at 110–120°C for 3 h, cool to 40–50°C, and pour slowly.

5) What is the stated shelf life and storage temperature?
Up to 12 months in sealed original packaging, at a maximum of 30°C, protected from sunlight and heat sources.
