Description

MOLYKOTE D-10-GBL Anti-Friction Coating 5 kg is a heat-curing dry-film lubricant for metal, delivering long-term wear protection and excellent resistance to oils, fuels and solvents. Once cured, the coating operates over a wide temperature range and suits industrial and automotive uses.

Benefits and unique features

  • High resistance to oils, greases, gasoline, diesel and solvents
  • Long-term anti-wear performance and low friction
  • High viscosity—ideal for screen printing; spray/brush possible after thinning
  • Service range of cured film: −40 to +340 °C
  • Enables permanent lubrication of highly loaded contacts at low to high speeds

Properties and applications

  • Applications: pistons and cylinders of gasoline/diesel engines, compressors & piston pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems; helps reduce piston/cylinder wear during break-in and cold start.
  • Surface prep: thoroughly degrease; phosphating or sand-blasting (~180 grit) increases adhesion and service life.
  • Recommended dry film thickness: 15–20 µm; indicative coverage ~15 m2/kg at 20 µm.
  • Curing: 10 min at 80 °C flash-off, then ~20 min at 200 °C; verify by trials to match part mass and geometry.
  • Thinning: with GBL (gamma-butyrolactone) to application viscosity.
  • HSE notes: solvent-containing—ensure good ventilation; avoid skin/eye contact; vapors may form explosive mixtures; harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.

Storage recommendations

Store in the original tightly closed container in a dry, well-ventilated area at ≤ 23 °C to maintain 12-month shelf life, and generally within 0–40 °C. Keep away from flames/ignition sources; do not inhale spray; prevent releases to the aquatic environment.

FAQ

1) Media resistance?
Cured film is highly resistant to oils, fuels and solvents.

2) How to apply?
Degrease; phosphating or blasting recommended; screen-print, or spray/brush after thinning; target 15–20 µm.

3) Curing schedule?
Flash-off 10 min/80 °C, then ~20 min/200 °C.

4) Thinner?
GBL (gamma-butyrolactone).

5) Storage life?
Up to 12 months when stored ≤ 23 °C unopened.
