Description

MOLYKOTE D-7409 Anti-Friction Coating 5 kg is a heat-curing dry-film lubricant for metal. It combines excellent lubrication with corrosion protection and high wear resistance, ideal where conventional oils and greases are unsuitable.

Benefits and unique features

  • High load-carrying capacity and wear resistance
  • Resistance of the cured film to oils, greases and solvents
  • Service temperature range −70 to +300 °C
  • Reduces fretting and stick-slip
  • Permanent lubrication under slow/oscillating motion

Properties and applications

  • Typical uses: piston rings and tappets, starter armatures, hood/bonnet locks, highly loaded low-speed slides, oscillating or intermittent motion.
  • Surface prep: thoroughly degrease; phosphating or ~180-grit blasting recommended to improve adhesion and service life.
  • Application: spray (approx. 3–5 bar), dip, spin or brush; target 5–20 µm dry film.
  • Curing: typically 30 min at part temperature 220 °C; short flash-off after application.
  • Coverage & thinner: ~16 m2/kg at 10 µm; recommended thinner – MOLYKOTE 7415 Thinner.

Storage recommendations

Store in the original tightly closed container in a dry, well-ventilated area. To maintain 36-month shelf life, keep at 5–23 °C; in general do not exceed 40 °C. Keep away from ignition sources and ground equipment during transfer; vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.
