Product description
Shell Tellus S2 MA 46 is a detergent hydraulic oil (HLPD) designed for systems exposed to water and solid contaminants. The advanced ashless formulation delivers excellent antiwear protection and consistent system performance.
Benefits and unique features
- Effective dispersion of water and solids – cleaner systems and reduced corrosion risk
- Ashless AW package – high load carrying (FZG/Brugger) with low friction
- Very good anti-foam and rapid air release – accurate valve response
- High oxidation stability – extended drain intervals
- Excellent filterability – compatible with fine filtration
Properties and applications
- HLPD hydraulics: injection moulding machines, electronically controlled hydraulics, mobile hydraulics
- Machine shops: spindles and hydraulics in automatic lathes, especially where synthetic/semi-synthetic coolants are present
- Watery environments: corrosion protection and steady operation in the presence of moisture
- Operational behaviour: low tendency to stick-slip

Storage recommendations
Store tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from extreme temperatures and sunlight. Use clean containers (soft steel/HDPE recommended); avoid PVC. Dispose of used oil in accordance with regulations.
FAQ
Where is HLPD preferred?
In systems exposed to water/coolants and dust—its detergent action keeps systems clean.
Mixing with other oils?
Compatible with most mineral oils; do not mix with different classes (e.g., biodegradable, fire-resistant).
Typical viscosities?
46 cSt (40 °C) and 7 cSt (100 °C), VI 107.
Very cold starts?
For extreme cold starts, consider a variant with enhanced low-temperature fluidity.
