Description

Anderol 555 5L is a synthetic ISO VG 100 compressor oil based on di-esters, designed for long-term lubrication of air and process gas compressors and vacuum pumps. It provides stable operation over a wide temperature range and reduces wear of critical components in demanding industrial applications. The product meets strict industry standards for premium compressor lubricants.

Advantages and unique features

  • No metal-containing additives – does not interfere with catalytic processes.
  • Enables extended oil drain intervals.
  • Significantly reduces fire and explosion risk thanks to a high flash point.
  • Rapid separation of condensed water, facilitating condensate removal from the system.
  • Lower oil consumption compared to typical mineral oils.
  • Minimises varnish, lacquer and deposit formation in the system.
  • Helps reduce energy consumption due to a stable lubricating film.
  • Reduces valve sticking issues thanks to clean operation.
  • Excellent lubricity and wear protection.

Properties and applications

  • Intended use: cylinder and crankcase lubrication for reciprocating compressors, vane compressors and vacuum pumps operating with air and process gases.
  • Process gas applications: air, nitrogen, helium, hydrogen, methane, natural gas, propane, carbon monoxide, dry carbon dioxide, butadiene, ethylene and other compatible gases according to the equipment manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Wide operating temperature range: nominal operating range from -15 °C to 210 °C allows use in systems exposed to changing ambient conditions.
  • Stable viscosity in service: ISO VG 100, with a kinematic viscosity of 103 mm²/s at 40 °C and 9.9 mm²/s at 100 °C, ensuring a stable lubricating film at elevated temperatures.
  • Good low-temperature fluidity: pour point around -33 °C supports reliable start-up of equipment operating in cold environments.
  • High oxidation stability: low acid number and limited evaporation contribute to system cleanliness and long oil life.
  • Corrosion protection: successful ASTM D-665 A and B rust tests protect steel components from corrosion.
  • Material compatibility: fully miscible with mineral oils (although dilution will reduce synthetic oil performance); recommended for seals made of Viton, high nitrile Buna N, PTFE, epoxy paint and oil-resistant alkyd coatings.
  • Typical application areas: chemical and gas industry, power generation, manufacturing plants and other installations requiring reliable lubrication of compressors and vacuum pumps.

Storage recommendations

Store Anderol 555 in tightly closed original containers in a dry, clean place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Avoid contamination of the product with water, dust or other substances that may impair its performance. Keep containers upright and protect them from mechanical damage.

FAQ

1) For which types of equipment is Anderol 555 intended?
Anderol 555 is intended for lubrication of reciprocating and vane compressors as well as vacuum pumps operating with air and selected process gases, within an operating temperature range of approximately -15 °C to 210 °C.

2) Can Anderol 555 be mixed with mineral oils?
The product is fully miscible with mineral oils, but any dilution will significantly reduce the performance of the synthetic formulation. When converting from a mineral oil to Anderol 555, it is recommended to drain the old oil as thoroughly as possible and flush the system if necessary.

3) How often should Anderol 555 be changed in a compressor or vacuum pump?
The oil change interval depends on operating conditions and the equipment manufacturer’s recommendations. Thanks to its excellent thermal and oxidative stability, Anderol 555 generally allows extended drain intervals compared to conventional mineral oils, but service instructions and oil analysis results should always be followed.

4) Which sealing materials are compatible with Anderol 555?
Recommended materials include Viton, high nitrile Buna N, PTFE, epoxy coatings, oil-resistant alkyd paints, nylon, Delrin, Celcon and PBT. It is not recommended for use with neoprene, SBR rubber, low nitrile Buna N, acrylic paint, lacquer, polystyrene, PVC or ABS.

5) Is Anderol 555 suitable only for vacuum pumps?
No, the oil has been developed as a synthetic ISO VG 100 compressor lubricant for air and process gas compressors as well as vacuum pumps. It can be used in both types of equipment, provided that the equipment manufacturer approves oils of this type.
